Defense Undersecretary Gioacchino Alfano visited the Italian contingent in Kosovo today.
"Thank you for what you do and for how you export the Italian spirit abroad", he began during the farewell to the contingent. "I thank you for what you are doing for the stabilization of this fragile area. The Italian approach to peace operations is a method now recognized by all at the international level. Our partners are increasingly recalling it as an example to follow".
He then added: "It is with pleasure that I extend to you and your families the best wishes for the upcoming Christmas holidays also from the Minister of Defense and the government".
At the Camp base Film City from Pristina, headquarters of the multinational command of the NATO Kosovo Force mission, met the military personnel of the contingent. To welcome him the commander of the mission, general of division Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta.
The visit was an opportunity for an update on the current operational situation, the security conditions in Kosovo and the role of KFOR soldiers. Afterwards, the Undersecretary and General Miglietta met the Ambassador of Italy in Kosovo, Andreas Ferrarese, who underlined the importance of Kfor and the Italian component for the creation of the necessary premises for the development and complete stabilization of the area.
