The Lebanese Defense Minister visits the MIBIL command

The visit of the Lebanese Defense Minister, mr. Yacoub Sarraf, accompanied by the Italian ambassador in Lebanon, if Massimo Marotti, at the command of the MIBIL (Italian Bilateral Military Mission in Lebanon).

Accepted by the col. Stefano Giribono, commander of MIBIL since last September 15, the Lebanese Defense Minister landed by helicopter at the base of the LAF (Lebanese Armed Forces) in Al Samaya, South of Lebanon.

On this occasion he was presented with a briefing aimed at making known the purpose, mission, organization, results and future objectives of MIBIL, from when it was deployed to today. Subsequently, the minister attended a practical demonstration of the course in favor of the effective canine units (K9 units) at the Lebanese Presidential Guard. The pairs, qualified EDD (Explosive Detection Dog), have demonstrated the training level achieved through the execution of dog governance exercises and simulacra research.

The MIBIL, operating in Lebanon from the 2015, develops assistance activities in training and training in favor of the LAF, through the use of Mobile Training Team Italians, coming from the highly specialized departments of all the Armed Forces and sent ad hoc to the Land of the Cedars with the aim of increasing the operational capacity of the LAF so that they can guarantee the security and stability of the country.

In 2016 alone, MIBIL has carried out numerous courses that have allowed the preparation of more than 300 between officers, non-commissioned officers and troops; in 2017, MIBIL has increased its activities by already training more than 400 units and reaching, by the end of the year, the approximately 1000 trained units, in compliance with bilateral agreements between the Italian and Lebanese government.
