General Figliuolo in Serbia for the "High Level Talks"

14/03/15

Yesterday, the commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), division general Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, traveled to Serbia to meet the Serbian Chief of Defense Staff, General Ljubisa Dikovic.

During the visit the emphasis was once again on the importance of cooperation as the guiding principle of its action in order to ensure safety and, in particular, the stability of the entire Balkan area. The comparison also allowed to discuss future developments in the area. General Figliuolo highlighted how the security status perceived in Kosovo can be attributed to the constant dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and to the important current relations between all the actors present in the area, including representatives of the international community.

During the meeting, the two high offices had the opportunity to visit the "Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Training Center (CBRN)" of Kruševac, an excellent training center that works in partnership with the other countries of the Balkan area.

Before concluding the meeting, General Figliuolo confirmed the commitment of the NATO Mission to contribute to the maintenance of security and freedom of movement in the area, conditions necessary for the complete normalization of the situation in Kosovo.

With this meeting, the so-called "High Level Talks" of the Comkfor continue within the framework of the Military Technical Agrimeent (MTA), also known as the "Kumanovo Agreement".
