The Italian contingent in Kosovo organizes the "Challenge Cup" military competition

In recent days, the Italian contingent in Kosovo, currently based on the 62nd infantry regiment "Sicily", organized the multinational military team competition called "MNBG-W Challenge Cup" at the base of "Villaggio Italia" in Peja / Pec. also involved the military of KFOR del Multi National Battle Group East (MNBG-E).

The competition promoted by Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W), an Italian-led multinational unit, aimed to increase cohesion and consolidate relations of friendship between KFOR nations through participation in military sports activities.

The teams deployed, ready to face each other, were 14 made up of 8 different nations.

Each team made up of 5 members had to pass a series of mental and physical, endurance, individual and group tests. The purely military capabilities, on the other hand, have been tested in various challenges that included: exercises by combat fitness, 5,5 km of time-weighted march, push for 25 meters an 12,7 ton armored vehicle, gun and rifle shooting competition, weapons and vehicles recognition, first aid test and evacuation of a wounded person.

The competition was won by the two Slovenian teams of the MNBG-W, followed shortly by the American team of the MNBG-E.

The commander of the MNBG-W, Colonel Giovanni Giagheddu, together with the commander of the MNBG-E, Colonel Ros Gammon, awarded the best athletes at the end of the competition.
