In recent days, the soldiers of the Italian contingent have distributed basic necessities and materials to the disabled reception center in Herat.
The handover ceremony for some wheelchairs and men's, women's and children's clothing was held in the presence of the commander of Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC W) Gianluca Carai, at the Pir-e-Herat Charity Foundation disabled center, which provides assistance to the handicapped in serious economic difficulties or without family support. The structure built in 2014 with funds from the Italian Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT), today welcomes about 60 children, women and men from all over the province.
The director of the structure after receiving the materials from the military, donated by the civil protection of Sassari and by a charity of Villacidro (CA), pronounced words of esteem and gratitude to the Italian people who continue to provide concrete help towards the weaker and more unfortunate who today can find in the foundation a welcoming environment that takes care of them in every respect, including health care and education.
The support to the population is one of the activities that goes alongside the main training and assistance to the Afghan Security Forces, the primary focus of the mission of Resolute Support, and is carried out both directly with projects identified and conducted by the national contingent, and by facilitating the distribution of humanitarian aid from national charitable organizations.
