The Italian Military Civilian and Military Cooperation (CIMIC) of the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W), based on 3 ° alpine brigade mountain artillery regiment Julia, organized and conducted the donation of a defibrillator to the Decane clinic and a supply of glasses and sticks for blind people to the blind community of Istok.
The defibrillator, purchased with funds from the Italian Defense, was handed over to the director of the Decane surgery, Dr. Selman Berisha, who thanked Italy for supporting its structure for over eighteen years with important projects that have completed the development of a concrete ability to intervene effectively and sustainably in the delicate health sector.
The significant act of solidarity is an important gesture that will allow the first aid center to save lives in the event of prompt and prompt medical intervention in favor of the population of Decane in imminent danger of life.
In the continuation of the CIMIC activities, the Italian military, in the presence of the mayor of the municipality of Istok, Mr. Haki Rugova, delivered the material for the blind consisting of 45 folding sticks, 12 masks to cover the eyes during the practice of sports activities and a sonic balloon to the director of the blind municipal association of Istok, Mr. Esat Shabani, who thanked Colonel Enzo Ceruzzi, the commander of the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W) and the Italian military contingent, and the director of the Center Colonel Franco Di Santo, an Administrative Officer, for the sensitivity and the significant sense of humanity shown as evidence of the concrete help offered to the weaker sections of the Kosovar population.
The support to the population, achieved thanks to the Defense funds assigned to the Civil and Military Cooperation projects (CIMIC), is one of the activities that goes alongside that of monitoring freedom of movement, supervision of the Monastery of Decane, exercises, training and patrols joint with the Kosovar security forces (joint patrol) and synchronized with the Serbian armed forces (synchronized patrol) respectively in the vicinity and along the administrative demarcation line between Kosovo and Serbia.
