In recent days, the staff of the Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC) cell of the Italian contingent carried out the first of a series of medical cardiological monitoring activities in favor of local institutes and schools. It began with the school for the disabled of Ayta Ash Shaab, a village in southern Lebanon, which hosts 123 children and teenagers between the 2 and the 25 years.

In particular, the specialized medical staff of the "1 level" stationed at Shama, the Italian-led headquarters of the west sector of UNIFIL, performed a cardiological screening in favor of 20 young patients.

This intervention is part of the activities of support and assistance to institutions and the local population, activities that the Italian contingent - which operates within the ambit of the UNIFIL multinational mission implementing the 1701 resolution of the United Nations Security Council - carries out every day.
