The commander of the Joint Force Command Brunssum visiting Afghanistan

General Salvatore Farina, NATO Joint Force Command Brunssum Commander, is visiting Afghanistan where the NATO Resolute Support (RS) mission operates.

Once in Kabul, General Farina met with Defense Minister Habibi, Interior Minister Jahid and the head of the Armed Forces Shaheem, as well as the commander of General RS Nicholson and his staff, and Ambassador Aramaz, civil representative Alliance.

The commander of JFC Brunssum also visited the German-led North sector, the Train Advise Assist Command (TAAC) - Air, in charge of the establishment of the Afghan Areas Forces, and the Italian Command operating in Herat, where he was welcomed by Brigadier General Gianpaolo Mirra, commander of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W), established on a "Pinerolo" brigade basis.

The high officer was updated on the operational situation of the West region and the future operating lines, as well as on the results obtained in the training, consultancy and assistance activities carried out in recent months in favor of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF).

General Farina, at the end of the visit and during the meetings with the diplomatic community of Kabul, expressed satisfaction with the work done so far by the mission Resolute Support, especially for the good level of training achieved by the Afghan Forces, which have recently successfully conducted complex operations on the ground, and for the improvement of general security conditions in the country.

It is necessary to intensify the activities carried out by RS, continued General Farina, to consolidate the positive results achieved during this year, and to implement the operational development of the Afghan Air Forces and Police Forces.

Finally, General Farina recalled that during the Warsaw summit it was stated that the RS mission will continue to the whole 2017 with characteristics of greater flexibility and adherence, adapting the instrument of the Train Advise Assist (TAA) also in favor of the brigades of the ANDSF.

The meetings with the Afghan authorities confirmed the considerable efforts made by the government and the full synergy with the RS mission.
