On 9 June Nave Rizzo will become the flagship of Operation Agenor

The European Multi-Mission Frigate Luigi Rizzo, engaged in the waters of the Gulf in the context of the EMASoH (European Maritime Awareness Strait of Hormuz) European initiative mission, stopped in the port of Abu Dhabi (UAE) where it will remain until 9 June.

During the stop, the tactical command of the AGENOR operation will hand over: on 9 June, on the occasion of the ceremony to be held at the naval base "Al Salam Camp", the Belgian Rear Admiral Renaud Flamant will pass the baton to Rear Admiral Mauro Panebianco .

As a result, Italy will assume tactical command of the mission and ship Rizzo will operate as a flagship, hosting the international staff of Task Force 474 on board.

A lasting commitment aimed at guaranteeing freedom of navigation and the free flow of global trade in the Strait of Hormuz in full compliance with the international laws of the sea, through the surveillance of maritime trade routes.

Through the promotion of wide-ranging cooperation, the European countries involved in the multinational mission - Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Norway, the Netherlands, Portugal and Germany - contribute to security and stability in the Gulf region, focusing on the prevention of incidents or possible crises that could determine significant repercussions at the trans-regional level, not only economic, but also socio-political within the framework of international relations.

Through close monitoring and interactions with merchant ships in transit in the Strait of Hormuz, Operation AGENOR constantly demonstrates prevention and deterrence action, maintaining a de-escalation approach to avoid voltage rises in the EMASoH area of ​​interest .
