The military ceremony was held yesterday morning in Belo Polje, in the presence of the ambassador for Italy in Kosovo SE Andreas Ferrarese, on the occasion of the 69 anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.

During the ceremony attended by the commander of KFOR, general of division Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was held and the message of the President of the Republic was read.

During his speech the Ambassador Ferrarese highlighted how the mission of the Italian Armed Forces in Kosovo is alive and up-to-date. The problems that are gathering on the margins of Europe could have repercussions in the Balkan area, and one of the keys to stable Balkans is the stability of Kosovo.

"I feel the responsibility - said General Figliuolo in his speech - to reassure all the soldiers who have preceded us in Kosovo, that we will continue to carry out our task with professionalism, fairness and impartiality. I am proud, continued COMKFOR, to spend this day with you; for us soldiers this is the best way to honor our nation and to live the motto of KFOR, "Example, Endeavor, Entrust".

To accommodate the agreed authorities and guests, an armed military division of the Army, belonging to the 5 ° Alpine Regiment, the 132 ° Regiment Carri and the 8 ° Regiment Trasporti, the carabinieri of the Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU) Air Force and Navy. The Slovenian, Austrian and Moldovan contingents also participated in the ceremony, which were part of the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W), which was hosted in Italy by Camp Village Italy.

The ceremony was also attended by SE Gabriele Meucci, head of the EULEX mission and the Italian commanders of the units framed in KFOR: Colonel Francesco Maria Chiaravalloti, commander of the MSU, Colonel Corrado Benzi commander of the Joint Regional Detachment Center and the "landlord" Colonel Carlo Cavalli, commander of the MNBG-W.
