UNIFIL CCs give lessons to Lebanese children on security

The Carabinieri included in the Special Investigation Section (SIS) of the international military police of UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon), with a symbolic ceremony concluded a series of theoretical and practical lessons on road safety for children in South Lebanon .

The initiative, now in its 2 edition and promoted by the UNIFIL head of mission and force commander, divisional general Paolo Serra, and enthusiastically welcomed by Lebanese municipal institutions, was launched by the UNIFIL Civil Affair Office together with the Lebanese non-governmental organization KUNHADI (founded by a Lebanese family whose son died as a result of a car accident), which for years has been involved in road safety training for the new Lebanese generations.

The Carabinieri, together with the Tanzanian, Indonesian and Spanish soldiers of the UNIFIL militar police, in support of the municipal institutions of Tiro, Ett Taibe, Qabrikha, Kafer Chouba, Al Bazuriyah, Chahabya, Hannawiyah, Adaissseh, welcomed by the principals of their respective schools, they provided notions of road behavior to more than 1000 students aged 6 and 15 years.

The commemorative poster of the initiative, which shows the most significant drawings made by children, will be exhibited in all schools to promote greater sensitivity on the delicate aspect of road safety.

The representatives of the Lebanese institutions expressed their appreciation for the support received from UNIFIL, therefore the organization of a third cycle of lessons that are scheduled to start from the beginning of the next school year is already under way.
