The Italian contingent of Unifil, currently composed of personnel from the 132 armored Ariete brigade, recalled in Lebanon, with a simple and significant ceremony, the 87 anniversary of the establishment of the specialty carristi.

On the morning of 1 October, at the end of the flag-raising ceremony, the commander of the Joint Task Force Lebanon, general Fabio Polli, in front of the deployment of Italian blue helmets, laid a laurel wreath on the cenotaph of Shama's base Millevoi, in memory of the military who in every time and place have lost their lives in the service of their country.

Following, after the honor to the fallen, was read the message of the greeting from the chief of staff of the army for the anniversary.

General Polli, subsequently, in retracing the most significant stages in the history of the specialty, evoked the characteristics of professionalism, dedication and courage that have made the tankers unique among the ranks of the armed force, able to adapt to the change of modern operational scenarios and to stand out today, even outside the national territory in the use in operations for the maintenance of peace and international stability.

The Ariete brigade is the only large armored unit in force today in the Italian army and is the custodian, with its departments, of the glorious traditions and values transmitted by the carristi specialties.
