This morning, Brigadier General Maurizio Morena - commander of theEuropean Union Training Mission - Somalia (EUTM-S), received the delegation of National Security Office (NSO) of the Somali government to conduct an update on the activities conducted by EUTM-S related to the training of the Somali National Army (SNA) and to thedvising of the Somali Ministry of Defense (MoD).
Dopo un office call, the delegation visited the General Dhagabadan Training Camp (GDTC), where since September i trainers Europeans are engaged in training the Pilot Light Infantry Coy (PLIC), a company composed of soldiers from different regions of Somalia, the fulcrum of a joint project between EUTM-Somalia and Somali National Army.
During the visit, the representatives of the NSO delegation - among them also advisors of the US State Department - expressed great enthusiasm to General Morena for the contribution made by the EUTM-S mission to the development of the Somali army. In particular, they indicated the PLIC project as the promoter of an efficient national army capable of guaranteeing security to the country.
