European Union Training Mission - MALI: training for the Malian Armed Forces

Last Saturday the training program conducted by the Italian military in favor of a section of the 32 ° RIM (Regiment d'Infanterie Motorisee) of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMA).

The staff of the Light Armored Training Team (LATT), currently formed by soldiers of the "Savoia Cavalleria" (3 °) Regiment of Grosseto and the 31 ° Carri of Lecce, held the course for the first time in the training area of ​​Kati, the largest military camp and place symbol of the history of this country.

The course was not part of the ordinary planning of the training mission European, but was extraordinarily requested by the Malian military command, with the aim of testing the capabilities of a group of trainers outside the KOULIKORO training camp –KTC-.

The main activities were: conduct in patrol activities, defense of positions, ambush reaction, carrying out convoy escort and fire drill at the Kalifabougou range.

The newly trained platoon will return to the North Mali department, the GTIA1 "Waraba", where it was already deployed for territorial control operations in the Timbuktu area.

Since the 2013, Italian personnel have participated in the European-led capacity building mission "EUTM - Mali", aimed at forming credible and stable institutions and trained units able to counter terrorism in that area.
