The Italian blue helmets in Lebanon have concluded in As Samayah a joint exercise activity with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) on military operations in population centers.

The training module involved the ITALBATT military, the Italian task force of the Sector West of UNIFIL and a platoon of the Lebanese army.

The activity, which lasted two weeks, was aimed at achieving the basic skills for conducting military activities in population centers with particular attention to planning and conduct.

These joint exercises, in addition to allowing the LAF to implement their operational capabilities contribute to greater synergy with the UNIFIL blue helmets.

Support to the Lebanese Armed Forces is one of the tasks assigned by the UN Security Council's 1701 Resolution, along with monitoring the cessation of hostilities and supporting the population.

The command of ITALBATT is currently on a regiment basis "Genova Cavalleria" and the Operation "Leonte XXI" is a brigade of cavalry "Pozzuolo del Friuli" under the orders of General Ugo Cillo.

For the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" it is the fifth mandate in the land of the cedars and the guide of the West Sector of UNIFIL.
