Erbil (Iraq): new training cycle for two Peshmerga Battalions

The Italian military trainers of the "Erbil" Task Force, operating within the Italian-led multinational KTCC (Kurdish Training Coordination Center) Command, have started a new cycle of training activities for two Peshmerga Battalions.

The deputy commander of the CJFLCC-I (Combined Joint Force Land Component Command-Iraq), visiting the Atrush training area, expressed heartfelt words about the intensity and the quality of the delicate work done by the Italian trainers and activity is appreciated by the Kurdish institutions and recognized by the coalition partners.

The Kurdish Training Coordination Center, employed by the US-led CJFLCC-I, is currently composed of about 530 men and women belonging to 6 Nations (Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Norway, Holland and Finland) and since January has trained about 2500 Kurdish Security Forces of which 1200 were formed by about 100 Italian soldiers in the use of the "Folgore" anti-tank weapon system, in the procedures against improvised explosive devices (IED counter), in the training of health personnel, in training direct precision shooting with portable weapons and indirect shooting with artillery and mortars.
