eFP Latvia: Silver Arrow exercise completed

The Silver arrow, a continuous multinational brigade-level exercise with opposing parties, with the aim of verifying the Full Operational Capability and the interoperability of the assets of the battle group NATO with the units of 1st mechanized infantry brigade Latvian.

From 18 to 29 September, the Italian military contingent of the "Baltic" Task Group took part in the exercise, mainly composed of personnel from the "Ariete" brigade, who, together with the other departments of the battle group, conducted a series of defensive and offensive tactical activities against units from the 1-506 US Army Airborne and eFP battlegroup Estonia, consolidating the technical-tactical procedures developed during previous training modules.

At the end of the exercise the Distinguished Visitors Day (DV-Day), an activity of fire power demonstration carried out at the Training Area of Camp Adazi, to which diplomatic and military delegations from different NATO countries were invited, with the aim of demonstrating the combat capabilities of the units of the multinational battlegroup.

The Italian ambassador to Latvia Alessandro Monti also participated in the event, accompanied by the commander of the Baltic Task Group, Lieutenant Colonel Gerardo Secco.

Italy, a member of the Atlantic Alliance, participates in the eFP by deploying in Latvia, under the battle group Canadian-led, a multi-weapon minor complex level maneuver unit based on the 11th Bersaglieri Regiment, with the contribution of platoon level units of the 132nd Tank Regiment, of the Regiment Novara Lancers (5th), of the 17th regiment at “Sforzesca”, of the 121st regiment at “Ravenna”, of the 7th regiment for CBRN defense, of the 7th of the 46th Transmissions regiment, of the 3rd Engineers regiment Sappers and a JTAC team from the 7th Alpine Regiment, plus a National Support component based on the "Ariete" brigade.

All operational and training activities conducted by the Italian Armed Forces on the eastern flank of NATO are arranged by the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone and carried out under the coordination and according to the directives given by the commander of the top joint operational command (COVI).
