The Italian contingent of Baltic Task Group stationed at Camp Adazi military base, he conducted the first level exercise battle group named multinational Titan Forge, in which assets from all the countries participating in the operation took part enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) in Latvia.
La Titan Forge it is one of the training modules envisaged for the achievement of the full operational capacity of the multinational contingent.
During the exercise, the units were called upon to tackle, both in planning and in conduct, activities aimed at increasing the level of cohesion and interoperability between the various components of the battle group, so that they are able to work together effectively and resolutely in response to any threats.
The personnel of the Italian contingent, whose operational component is mainly drawn from the 132nd "Ariete" armored brigade of the Italian Army, conducted various activities aimed at gaining knowledge of the terrain, technical-tactical procedures, weapon systems, and the materials supplied to the other components of the battle group.
Also important was the integration with the logistics component, which took part in the exercise phases by overcoming passive obstacles by setting up mobile bridges and providing adherence logistical support to the shunting departments.
Italy, with the Baltic Task Group, takes part in NATO's eFP initiative, which provides for the presence on the eastern flank of the Alliance of 4 battle group multinationals, each led by a Framework Nation (Canada in Latvia, Germany in Lithuania, United Kingdom in Estonia and USA in Poland), in order to strengthen the posture of deterrence on the east flank of the Euro-Atlantic space.
All operational and training activities conducted by the Italian Armed Forces on the eastern flank of NATO are ordered by the Chief of Defense Staff and carried out under the coordination and according to the directives given by the Joint Operational Command (COVI).
