CTE SW UNIFIL delivery of the UN medal

At Tiri (South of Lebanon), at the base hosting the Finnish and Irish contingents, Brigadier General Stefano Del Col, commander of the UNIFIL West Sector and commander of the Italian contingent, presided over the ceremony for the commemorative medal of the UN mission in Lebanon to the blue helmets of the Finnish and Irish contingents.

The ceremony, which took place on St. Patrick's Day, an Irish national holiday, was attended, in addition to the numerous local authorities present, by the Finnish ambassador in Lebanon, Matti Lassila, and the Chief of Staff of the Irish Defense Forces, general of body army Conor O'Boyle. The commander of the West Sector, during his speech, wanted to highlight the excellent work carried out by the two contingents in the field of competence thanks to the very high level of professionalism and deep sharing of intent for the implementation of the UN resolution 1701 of the 2006, in the Italian-led Sector of UNIFIL based on the "Pinerolo" Brigade base, the blue helmets of 11 are engaged in various countries for a total of approximately 3500 men and women, including the Finnish-Irish mixed battle-group.
