"Sharp Shooter" Course: Iraqi security forces training continues

The Italian military instructors have successfully completed the 5th course Sharp shooter (expert shooters) in favor of the Iraqi security forces of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region.

The course - organized in collaboration with the military of the other eight nations that make up the Kurdistan Training Coordination Center (KTCC) - It lasted 4 weeks with the aim of refining the techniques of motion, camouflage, observation and information retrieval skills and the precision of shooting at medium and long distances of staff who have already demonstrated a strong aptitude for using the 'long weapon. Specifically, subjects such as trainer training, ballistics, topography, land use, distance estimation without the use of electronic material, occult movement on the ground (Stalking), masking and physical endurance.

This training is part of the multiple courses provided by the trainers of the Italian Armed Forces to the Iraqi security forces in order to give them fundamental and essential skills to defeat DAESH and international terrorism.

The KTCC, with Italian guidance until December, 2017, coordinates military activities from Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Finland, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey and Hungary. Since its establishment in January 2015, the military personnel of the Italian Army framed in Operation "Prima Parthica" have trained overall about 4000 police officers and over 11.000 soldiers of the Iraqi Army for a total of approximately 15.000 trained. With the abilities transmitted by our instructors, the Iraqi security forces have been able to release most of the territory of Iraq from ISIS control including the strongholds of Falluja, Ramadi, Tikrit and, lastly, Mosul.

The training of Iraqi forces will continue to be a priority in order to eliminate the last resistance of DAESH and the internal stabilization process of the country.
