The Italian blue helmets have concluded, near the base "Millevoi" of Shama, center of the headquarters of the Sector West of Unifil, the "Unarmed Self Defense" course in favor of the Lebanese army soldiers belonging to the fifth brigade stationed in southern Lebanon.

The course conducted by military instructors from the Italian maneuver battalion (ITALBATT), based on the "Genoa Cavalry" regiment with elements of the "Lancieri di Novara" regiment and 132 "Ariete" artillery regiment, was intended to acquire the main personal self-defense techniques for visitors.

The military of the Lebanese Army Forces (LAF) trained with Italian specialists during a busy week of theoretical and practical activities to deal with different situations that could occur during their institutional activities. The level reached by those attending the course highlighted, once again, the synergy reached between the UNIFIL blue helmets and the LAFs according to the provisions of the UN Security Council 1701 resolution which, among the focal points, provides support to Lebanese Armed Forces.

The commander of the event attended the closing ceremony, during which a demonstration of the acquired techniques was organized Sector West, General Ugo Cillo and some officers of the Lebanese armed forces.

The current mission in Lebanon is to lead the "Pozzuolo del Friuli" cavalry brigade, in its fifth mandate in the "Leonte" operation.
