National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps and Alpine troops together in the "Naturkosovo" project

The first operational activities envisaged within the "NaturKosovo" initiative have come to a conclusion, which saw the instructors of the Italian Alpine and Speleological Rescue with the alpine troops and the cell of Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC) of regional command West of KFOR currently based on the 9th alpine regiment of the Taurinense brigade, engaged in the phase relating to the improvement of the technical level of the mountain rescue service present in the area.

The objective of the project is in fact to give impetus to the enhancement and protection of the Kosovar section of the Via Dinarica, in the area of ​​the municipalities of Pec/Peje, Decane/Decan, and Junik.

Among the various planned activities, carried out in the Rugova Valley, within the area of ​​responsibility of regional command - West, the test phase is underway to access the 18-month training course, supervised by National Corps of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue (CNSAS).

The delicate phases of assessing the ability to move on snowy terrain of the more than 50 participants, coming from the various municipalities of Kosovo, were supported by the Alpini of the 9th regiment of the Alpine Brigade Taurinense, who supported the CNSAS in the four days in the mountain environment through the supply of technical material to all operators and with the help of two mountaineering instructors and a Meteomont observer.

A collaboration which, through this initiative, tightens even more the relations between the Alpine troops command of the Italian Army and the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps, moreover, already included in the memorandum of understanding in force between the two institutions.
