02/04/15

The commander of the NATO multinational mission KFOR, division general Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, met today in Pristina the Polish Prime Minister, Ewa Kopacz, during his visit to Kosovo.

The Prime Minister and COMKFOR discussed the state of security, the socio-political situation in Kosovo and the stabilizing function of KFOR throughout the Balkan region. From the meeting, which was also attended by the Polish Interior and Defense Ministers, a deep conviction emerged that Kosovo is proceeding in the right direction, confirming that the Polish government pays the greatest attention to the ongoing dialogue.

The prime minister assured General Figliuolo that Poland, present in KFOR since 1999, will continue, even in the future, to support the mission by sending its best soldiers. The KFOR commander thanked Mrs. Kopacz for the collaborative spirit that animates the soldiers of the Polish contingent, for their professionalism and the exceptional contribution offered to the success of the mission "they are the best ambassadors of their country" said COMKFOR.

Poland, which with its approximately 250 men and women is one of the major contributors among the 31 countries of the Multinational Force, also provides its own staff to the EULEX EU-led mission.
