The commitment of the armed forces in saving human lives at sea continues

From the first light of dawn yesterday, thanks to the favorable climatic conditions, there was an intense migratory flow coming from the Libyan coasts, which involved four naval units of the Navy (ship Fasan, ship Sphinx, ship commander Cigala Fulgosi of the ship Libeccio) operating in the "Mare Sicuro" safety device.

47 SAR events have been conducted on as many vessels as: 9 by ship Fasan with 1145 migrants, 8 by ship Sphinx with 679 migrants, 4 by ship Cigala Fulgosi with about 537 migrants and 2 from ship Libeccio with 268 migrants.

The frigate Fasan and the aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi, flagship respectively of the operation Safe Sea and the European mission EUNAVFOR MED they also carried out medical evacuations (Medevac), by helicopter, of various migrants in danger of life.

The rescue of the remaining boats was carried out by the military units Garibaldi ed Enterprise Device EUNAVFOR MED, from the Irish military ship Le James Joyce, from the media of NGOs Dignity 1 e Astral, from the Triton unit Siem Pilot, from the tugboat Ace 25 and by two Coast Guard patrol boats.

At the end of the day, 53 total SAR events, the rescue was almost 7000 migrants.
