The War Flag of the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment arrives in Bulgaria

The War Flag of the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment of Trapani arrived late yesterday afternoon in the Novo Selo Training Area, seat of the command of the Italian contingent and of the multinational battle group of NATO in Bulgaria (MNBG BGR), which is currently made up of soldiers under the 7th Bersaglieri regiment of Altamura.

Welcomed with military honors, in the presence of the current commander of the MNBG BGR, Colonel Andrea Fraticelli and personnel of both regiments, the historic banner will be kept together with the War Flag of the 7th regiment. The latter will return to Italy at the end of the formal ceremony for the rotation of the contingents, scheduled for next 10 August and which will sanction the simultaneous transfer of the command authority of the multinational battlegroup from Colonel Fraticelli to the incoming commander, the peer Michelangelo Genchi, commander of the 6th Regiment.

The War Flag of the 6th Bersaglieri Regiment is decorated with two Military Orders of Italy, two Gold Medals for Military Valor, one Silver Medal for Army Valor and four Bronze Medals for Military Valor.

The Trapani regiment and an operational unit of the Italian Army, framed in the Aosta brigade and for the following six months will be at the helm of the NATO Battlegroup deployed in Bulgaria as part of the initiative enanched Vigilance Activity (eVA).

Since 17 October 2022, Italy has been participating in the eVA initiative, launched after the NATO summit in Madrid with the aim of strengthening the posture of deterrence of the Atlantic Alliance along the eastern flank of Europe.
