Training activity in favor of the Gibutian Navy

In the last days of August, the personnel of the Italian Military Support Base of Djibouti (BMIS), and in particular a team of the Force Protection Platoon (1) made available by the Navy San Marco Brigade of the Navy, carried out a joint training with a similar Djiboutian team, for the conduct of boarding team activities.

The activity was directed by the Force Protection Platoon Commander with the supervision and collaboration of the two BMIS officers.

The exercise took place in the Naval Base of the Marine National Djiboutienne, using naval means and didactic / training areas provided by the Djiboutian Navy.

The activity has contributed to improving the capacities of the local Navy in one of the most interesting employment sectors in an area of ​​instability such as the Horn of Africa, for which continuous training is necessary in order to maintain operational capacity .

The Italian Military Base of Djibouti, with an inter-force connotation, has about 80 soldiers that make up the permanent nucleus of the mission. The Base provides support to national contingents operating in the Horn of Africa and the Indian Ocean area.
