At the start the Italian training mission in favor of the Somali police

The Italian MIADIT training mission in Somalia has officially begun: already for some days a team of about 30 military of the carabinieri weapon, has started the educational programs in favor of about 150 agents, including 8 women, of the Somali police.

The training module, lasting 12 weeks, includes notions of humanitarian law, penal code, criminal procedure, military ethics, international law, as well as lessons on the main UN resolutions, with particular reference to issues related to gender issues. 

The mission, under the command of Colonel Paolo Pelosi, is the result of a bilateral agreement between the Italian and the Somali states, and is aimed at promoting the stability and security of Somalia and the entire Horn of Africa region, increasing the capacity in the area of ​​security and control of the territory by the Somali police forces.

The carabinieri, which abroad has already successfully conducted numerous training, assistance and tutoring activities in favor of local police, repeats the positive experience experienced during a similar mission, carried out in Palestine in the spring of this year (MIADIT I).
