Afghanistan: visit by the Minister of Transport to Herat airport

In recent days, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Dr. Mohammadullah “Batash”, visited “Camp Arena”, home of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC W), and the Herat military airport. Minister Batash, accompanied by the director of the Afghan civilian airports, capt. M. Adel Rasooli, was welcomed by Brigadier General Michele Risi, commander of TAAC W, and by Colonel Raffaele La Montagna, commander of the Joint Air Task Force (JATF). 

During the visit, the Afghan Authority ascertained the efficiency of the management of Herat airport, the essential functions of which (Fire Service, Air Traffic Control, Meteorological Service, Flight Safety and Maintenance for Air Navigation Assistance) , from 1 ° 2015 to today, they are insured by the Air Force personnel. 

During the meeting the future of the civil airport was discussed: the guest delegation visited the airport structures of the Airfield Management Task Group (AMTG) attested on the flight line, where the activities of familiarization of the essential airport services are in progress. favor of Afghan civilian personnel. This activity is carried out by the Air Force military, as part of the "Confidence Building" program, started last July 27.

Minister Batash appreciated the efforts of the men in "blue" of the JATF as well as of the whole TAAC W, who are putting at the disposal of the Afghan personnel their qualified expertise to favor a rapid transfer of airport services management, and expressed his optimism about the success of the transition, also thanks to the enthusiasm and willingness shown by the Afghan staff.
