The civil-military cooperation interventions carried out by the national contingent of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-WEST), currently led by the 132nd “Ariete” armored brigade, continue in favor of the local communities of western Afghanistan.
In recent days, the Italian military has completed an important project for the benefit of the village of Mahala Dasht, located in the district of Guzarah, a short distance from the Camp Arena base. In particular, thanks to the Italian initiative, an artesian well was built which will allow water supply to hundreds of families in the area. In detail, the drilling of the soil, the construction of the well with the installation of an electric pump for water capture and the construction of a tower to support the storage tank were carried out.
The activity, organized and conducted by the CIMIC (Civil-Military Cooperation) staff of the TAAC-WEST, is part of the assistance projects promoted by the contingent in terms of support to Afghan institutions and civil society.
The commander of the TAAC-WEST, Brigadier General Enrico Barduani, in delivering the commemorative plaque, which was affixed to the base of the well during the inauguration ceremony, wanted to express his closeness and solidarity towards the inhabitants of Mahala Dasht.
“With this concrete gesture of attention in favor of your community - said the commander of TAAC-WEST - the Italian contingent continues to demonstrate, even in this difficult period characterized by the covid emergency, its support for the population of Afghanistan, which is committed with determination to build a solid and prosperous future for their society ".
The village chief of Mahala Dasht, Ghulam Dastager, and the district chief of Guzarah, Shir Agha Sarwary, together with the village elders present at the inauguration, in recalling the numerous interventions made by the Italian contingent in recent years in favor of local communities, sincerely thanked for the work carried out, expressing gratitude for the support and assistance that the Italian Armed Forces provide to the institutions of their country.
