The Italian military contingent operating under the Train Advise Assist Command - West (TAAC-W), on the initiative of the gender advisor, major Erika Monticone, was the bearer of a conspicuous donation to the Herat orphanage.
The solidarity competition in favor of the 200 children guests of the structure started after a meeting with the director of the orphanage, Mrs. Zainab Barakzai (director of the orphanage for 27 years), and three young guests. On that occasion, the needs of the children were highlighted and, after a few days, the entire contingent mobilized to buy two washing machines, 2 refrigerators and a sewing machine to donate to the structure together with 30 beds complete with mattresses and blankets.
With a simple but meaningful ceremony, in the presence of the gender advisor and of the commanders of the Joint Air Task Force, pilot colonel of the Air Force, Raffaele La Montagna, and of the Task Force Arena, Colonel Matteo Spreafico, the director of the orphanage received the donation and thanked the whole of Italy for her generosity.
