Afghanistan: four new specialists in operational communications

The course for specialists in operational communications in favor of 13 soldiers of the 207th Afghan Army Corps who have been qualified for the procedures for the conception and dissemination of messages in support of operations ended yesterday. Among these also four women, who became the first professionals in information campaigns. These presences, included in the gender projects supported by the Italian contingent, contribute to increasing the female staff capable of operating in highly specialized positions in Afghan institutions.

The course on operational communications took place at the Italian base of Camp Arena, home of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC-W) and was developed as part of the training program conducted by the Military Advising Team (MAT). The lessons were held with the help of instructors coming from the Resolute Support command and mainly concerned the development of procedures to promote the consent of the local population towards the Afghan security forces. Methods for the use of loudspeakers, radio, television, internet, as well as traditional flyers and posters that are particularly effective in areas with a high rate of illiteracy and low technological development have also been deepened.

The head of operational communications of the 207 Afghan Army Corps, present at the ceremony of delivery of the certificates, said words of thanks for the commitment of the Italian contingent in favor of its military, highlighting that the level of professionalism expressed by the army , in the west, it is constantly growing. He finally asked to continue the training activities related to the specific branch in such a way as to cover, in a short time, the needs of all the brigades and battalions of the corps.
