The military of the Italian contingent in Herat entitled a multimedia room of the military base to General Muhiuddin Ghori, head of the 207 ° corps, who died last November in a plane crash.

The ceremony was attended by the highest civil, military and religious offices of Herat and the son of the gen. Ghori who discovered the commemorative plaque at the entrance to the classroom.

The commander of the TAAC-W, Brigadier General Gianpaolo Mirra, recalled his late colleague: “the title of this hall goes beyond the simple gesture due. Today we remember an officer, a commander, a man who loved his country to the point of agreeing to give his life for the freedom of Afghanistan. General Ghori, for me, was not only the commander of the 207th Army Corps but also a loyal friend ”.

“To the son - added the gen. Mirra - I leave the memory of our chats when he told me the regret for the time stolen from the family. But General Ghori had a bigger family and he was all the Afghan people ”.

The multipurpose classroom of Camp Arena, which now bears his name, represents an important didactic aid for carrying out the activities of the Military Advisor Team (MAT). At the facility, equipped with computers and visual aids, important assistance operations to the Afghan defense forces such as the Salma Dam operation, the important planning of the Winter Campaign and the operations that allowed the insurgents in the Farah area to be repelled.
