Yesterday, at Camp Arena, the Italian soldiers of the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC W) made a donation of school supplies to the orphanage "Khaja Abdullah Ansari" in Herat.

The materials - notebooks, backpacks and other stationery - were purchased with funds raised from spontaneous contributions from the Italian military of the TAAC W, while the Civil and Military Cooperation Italian took care of the purchase and delivery of the goods.

The orphanage is the most important reference structure for orphaned children in the region and currently hosts over 300 among boys and girls.

The donation took place in the presence of the commander of the TAAC-W (Train Advise Assist Command West), Brigadier General Gianpaolo Mirra, and of the director of the Orphanage, Ms. Zainab Barakzai, as well as a representation of Italian children and military personnel.

Ms. Barakzai thanked Italians who have always been close to the needs of the less fortunate Afghan population.
