Afghanistan: Italian advisors train local forces

Yesterday, a training cycle led by Military Advisor Team (MAT), unit of the Train Advise and Assist Command West (TAAC-W) Italian-led, in favor of around 25 between officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA).

The activities took place in the training area of ​​Camp Arena, the headquarters of the Italian command in Herat, and concerned the maintenance and repair of the specialist equipment used to combat the threat of explosive devices.

Of particular importance, among the courses held, was the "Robotics Operator Maintenance and Repair" (ROMR), in which 12 students took part, which allowed the Afghan operators belonging to the platoons in charge of clearing the roads and other places from any bombs, to acquire the ability to operate and maintain such devices.

At the same time, the “Hand Held Metal Detector” (HHMD) course was held, which instructed the students to use and maintain the Metal Detectors (metallic research devices) supplied to the units of the ANA Engineers.

The chief of staff of TAAC W, Colonel Cosimo Prencipe, attended the ceremony for the delivery of the end-of-course certificates.
