Afghanistan: donation of sports materials to support women's rights

Yesterday morning, at the meeting room of the Conference Training Center of Camp Arena, the soldiers of the Italian contingent delivered sports equipment to theSports Office of the province of Herat. The donation, in addition to the material support for the development of sporting activities, has underlined the continuous proximity of the Italian Contingent to the institutional interlocutors, and in particular to the sport especially the female one, which represents a milestone in the process of emancipation of Afghanistan.

The commander of the meeting was present at the meeting Train Advise Assist Command West, Brigadier General Claudio Minghetti, representatives of the civil and military cooperation cell (CIMIC), the head of the general directorate for physical education and sport of Afghanistan mr. Hamidullah Kabir, mrs. Abida, head of the Women's Football Federation, mr. Abdulrab, head of the Volleyball Federation, along with a representative of the Herat women's volleyball team.

Mr. Hamidullah Kabir, during the meeting that preceded the donation, underlined the primacy of associates of the province of Herat, which counts about 50.000 federates of which 3.000 women, highlighting the continuous work that the office carries out on the whole territory provincial through constant dissemination of the sports conscience, aimed at Afghans of all ages and in particular the inhabitants of the most distant and poorest villages.

General Minghetti praised the industriousness of the general directorate, stressing that the model that sports associations represent, fully reflects how sport can be one of the tools thanks to which it is possible to break down social and cultural barriers, which are at the root of violence especially against women, and "fully proposes the model of Afghanistan that we all want to see for the future".
