Afghanistan: first cycle of the "Confidence Building" concluded

Today the first cycle of the "Confidence Building" (CB) course was concluded, carried out by the personnel of the Italian Air Force, with the support of the Train Advise Assist Command - West (TAAC-W), and addressed to the Afghan personnel in service at the Herat Civil Terminal (HAB).

The activity allowed Afghan personnel to familiarize themselves with the five essential airport functions, currently carried out by the Airfield Management Task Group operating within the Joint Air Task Force (JATF): specifically the Fire Service, Air Traffic Control, Weather, Flight Safety and Maintenance for Air Navigation Assistance.

Attenders carried out an exercise at the end of the course, in which they simulated an "emergency in flight", and applied the techniques and teachings functional to the solution of the emergency, learned in the two months of training.

A second cycle of the Confidence Building program will soon be launched, the result of the collaboration between the JATF, commanded by the pilot colonel of the Air Force Raffaele La Montagna, who also holds Senior Airfield Authority (SAA) and manager of Herat International Airport, and actual Afghan staff at the Civil Terminal, led by Director Mr. Shakhi Dad Rasooly.

The second cycle will also be supported by the TAAC-W, based on the “Aosta” Brigade, commanded by General Mauro D'Ubaldi.
The second cycle of meetings will focus on the deepening of the concepts and procedures analyzed in the course just ended, in order to give Afghan personnel the necessary autonomy to acquire the certifications of theAfghan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA).
