Afghanistan: training in Farah in favor of the 2 ^ brigade of the 207 ° corps

With the return to Camp Arena in Herat, the first external activity of "Train Advise and Assist" (TAA) was formally concluded today in favor of the 2ª brigade of the 207˚ army corps of the Afghan Army, stationed in Farah.

The activity, ordered by the NATO Mission Commander Resolute Support (RS), General John Nicholson, was born from a specific request by the Afghan authorities aimed at increasing the professional knowledge and operational capabilities of the Afghan military even at levels lower than that of the army corps. Operating also in favor of the Afghan military under the brigades and kandaks of the West Region, RS intends to improve the effectiveness of its operations and this evolution, in line with the mission's mandate, will see an extension of training activities.

In this context, from 6 last January, a nucleus of Italian TAAC West soldiers - about 70 among the brigade's sharpshooters Garibaldi and some carabinieri of Police Advisory Team (PAT) - together with a team of US military (USFOR - United States Force - Afghanistan), he was sent to carry out training and assistance activities, within his area of ​​responsibility, in favor of the 2ª brigade of the 207˚ body army at the former FOB "Dimonios" in Farah.

In particular, the activities focused on the planning of complex operations and on the organizational methods of command and control. The success and the results achieved with this activity lead us to further develop this formula "at home" of training courses limited in time.
