First launch of a MU 90 torpedo from the Italian-French program

As part of the international cooperation program between Italy and France called MU 90, the 3 June 2015 was carried out the 1 launch of a light torpedo with an explosive head, against an artificial target that simulated a submarine, with a favorable outcome.

The weapon, prepared by the Interaction Center for Advanced Ammunition of Aulla MS, was launched by an Atlantic 2 of the French National Navy, confirming the excellent synergy that for years has united the Marines of the two countries.

The excellent result achieved rewards the commitment of the respective teams in the creation of such a weapon system, which represents the state of the art from a technical point of view and a reference standard for reliability and operational precision.

The launch made it possible to verify and demonstrate the full functioning of the weapon system, requiring the deployment of men and vehicles belonging to various commands-bodies-organizations both Italian and French. For the Italian part, particularly significant was the contribution of the Navy General Staff - 7 ° Reparto Navi, Maricomlog, Navarm and CIMA Aulla.
