Military Navy: exercise with the Omani navy by ship Libeccio

Engaged in the EU anti-piracy operation Atalanta Libeccio ship, during the first operational stop in the port of Salalah (Oman), conducted in collaboration with the staff of the Royal Oman Navy (RON), a demonstrative exercise that saw the procedures for suspected on-board dhow / merchant controls are in place.

After a theoretical indoctrination on a Libeccio ship, cared for by the lieutenant Giuseppe Pompei (chief inspector of the Italian frigate), a practical exercise was conducted aboard the Omani patrol boat Al Seeb. The exercise involved men and means of ship Libeccio and ship Al Seeb, and the staff of the Marina San Marco Brigade.

The demonstration activity in favor of the RON, carried out in port for the unfavorable weather conditions, has given way to improve the techniques of defense and coverage and to increase the interoperability between the two Marines, in order to counter more and more effectively the piracy maritime and for the control of mercantile traffic.
