The Italian Navy in Singapore to participate in the "Regional Maritime Security Practitioner Program" organized by the Navy of the Republic of Singapore.
The event, which began last Monday, now in its tenth edition, saw the presence of 5 countries and 28 participants for 89 days among the representatives of the navies, coastguards and shipping agencies, shipping companies and the international academic world, to discuss issues relating to maritime security, international cooperation, the exchange of operational information on the maritime domain and the technological development of unmanned and autonomous surveillance tools. Inside theInternational Fusion Center (IFC), in the Changi naval base, military personnel, regional shipping managers and university professors had the opportunity to discuss, confront and carry out simulations of maritime crisis scenarios and negotiation to indicate solutions, practices and viable, useful for countering criminal activities regional maritime vessels that have repercussions on stability and well-being on a global level.

The need to improve international cooperation andinformation sharing to increase the Maritime Situational Awareness of coastal countries, as prodromal and enabling elements for police and maritime surveillance activities. Precisely in this delicate sector, the daily action and the support provided, also in the strategic area of ​​the Indo-Pacific, by the Virtual Regional Maritime Traffic Center (VRMTC), a trans-regional initiative that encourages and facilitates the exchange of information between the Navies to ensure the safety of world maritime traffic.

The intense week of work ended with the delivery of the traditional certificates of participation issued by the IFC, as tangible evidence of the commitment and the important network of contacts and trust created among the participants.
