In the city of Vicenza, where many American soldiers live with their families, thefts and robberies are on the rise (burglaries alone have risen from 35 to 63 since the beginning of the year).

The alarm, reported by The Journal of Vicenza was picked up by US authorities who are trying to understand what happens. There would not be a specific group of people targeted, but US personnel are advised to exercise maximum caution.

The local authorities - inform thearticle on the official website of the US Army - they decided to put more cameras around the city, to hire more police officers and to carry out more checks, especially in some central areas.

The US military police provide some tips to stay safe: do not walk alone at night, pay attention to poorly lit places, do not carry too much cash or precious objects with you and be careful when using the ATM at night.

It is also said to trust your instincts: if something or someone seems strange or dangerous to you, it is best to avoid it. It is important to walk confidently, pay attention to your surroundings and always have emergency numbers with you, knowing where you are, in case you need to call for help.

The final gloss states: “If you ever find yourself in a dangerous situation, such as a theft, remember to remain calm and not resist, because your safety is more important than any valuables you may have on you.”
