Turkey has successfully tested an armed tactical drone. This is what they communicate from the defense industries of the country.

The proven tactical UAV is the "Bayraktar" TB2 UAV produced by the two private Turkish companies, Baykar and Kale Kalip. In its first flight test in an armed configuration, the Bayraktar was equipped with what the Roketsan industry that produces them calls "smart mini-ammunition". The weapon system released at sixteen thousand feet struck a target eight kilometers away.

The Bayraktar's Block-2 is a third larger than the previous tactical drone. Its autonomy is 24 hours. In its first flight test in automatic configuration, which took place in the 2014, the Bayraktar flew for three hours at an altitude of 18.750 feet. In a second test, the drone reached an altitude of 27.000 feet, flying for 6,5 hours.

In the last flight test, the drone reached an altitude of 18.000 feet flying for 24,5 hours. Its maximum take-off payload is 650 kilograms. Its wingspan is twelve meters with a cruising speed of 130 km / h.

The Turkish armed forces have ordered 18 Bayraktar TB2. The armed configuration tested today has not yet been formally adopted by the Turkish army.
