Turks and Greeks begin to clash

The tension between Greece and Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean, off the island of Rhodes, rises further.

According to the reconstruction of the Turkish media, last night a Greek frigate (probably a unit class Idra), carried out a disturbance action against the Turkish exploration ship Fasting Reis, engaged in research operations for natural gas fields in the area (disputed, in fact, between the two nations).

In defense of the Fasting Reis the escort frigate would intervene Kemalreis (photo), which immediately faced the Greek unit, ramming it and forcing it to retreat.

According to the Greek media, however, it would have been a maneuvering error by the commander of the Turkish unit who would have, moreover, suffered the greatest damage.

However the events actually unfolded, the tension between Greece and Turkey is reaching levels that have not been recorded since 1974.

France is trying to support the Greeks by carrying out joint exercises but the Turks are continuing with their strategy.

Just to change, the European Union has called an extraordinary summit to assess the situation, I think it is not risky to say that Sultan Erdoğan will not be intimidated by it.
