'Topol-M' the anti-missile ICBM missile?

02/11/14

The launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Plesetsk cosmodrome, northwest of Russia, was successfully carried out yesterday morning. This is communicated by the Ministry of Defense through the Ria Novosti.

The launch - according to the official statement - was carried out to verify the technical characteristics of Topol-M. The missile would have shown high precision and, overall, good performance, hitting the designated target on the firing range in the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia.

The 'Topol-M' three-stage missile would be immune to the American anti-missile shield (ABM). His abilities to make sharp turns, release false targets as well as complete shielding against any kind of Emp or Laser attack make it terribly lethal. The only possibility of breaking it down would be in the boost phase: a task that would be up to the defense systems installed in Poland. Probably, the 'Topol-M' with its 10 thousand km range could hit any part of the United States with impunity.

Russia currently has 326 intercontinental ballistic missiles with about 1.050 warheads ready to launch (Mirv-Marv).

Russia plans to increase annual spending on nuclear weapons by more than 50 per cent over the next three years for a total investment of 1,4 billion dollars by the 2016.

The Ministry of Defense has already announced the withdrawal of almost all the now obsolete ICBMs such as the SS-18 'Satan', SS-19 'Stiletto' and SS-25 'Sickle' (Topol) and replace them with SS- 27 'Sickle -B '(Topol-M) and RS-24' Yars' within the 2021.
