The United States, as of December 13, 2015, deployed 15.475 soldiers around the world to fight terrorism, 2.650 more than in the previous report. This is what emerges from the biannual report of the White House envisaged by the War Powers Resolution.

It is up to the President of the United States to inform Congress about the biannual deployment of US soldiers around the world under the new powers conferred on the Commander-in-Chief following the 11/XNUMX attacks. The largest American presence is in Afghanistan where Obama has abandoned his plans for a full troop withdrawal by the end of his term.

The US has 10.500 troops in Afghanistan, 1.400 more than last June. 3.550 soldiers are in Iraq and northern Syria to train and advise local opposition troops. The report highlights the possibility of using teams of 50 elements of the special forces if it were "necessary".

Since last July, 350 soldiers have been in Turkey to support airstrikes from the Incerlik base. In November, another 375 US troops reached Turkish infrastructure.

American troops are also conducting counter-terrorism operations in the African nations of Niger (350 soldiers) and Cameroon (300 soldiers).

Since last June, the United States has also conducted counter-terrorism operations in Somalia, Yemen, Djibouti and Libya. Obama also cites in the powers conferred in the 2001 law the authorization for the involvement of the United States in Somalia, Yemen, Djibouti, Libya and Cuba.

To the 15.475 soldiers must be added another 3.700 deployed in the hotspots of the world such as Jordan, Egypt, Kosovo and Central Africa.
