Scramble (immediate take-off of armed interceptors), this morning, for the Japanese F-15 during a training mission for a Chinese formation near Miyako and Okinawa.

The planes, eight strategic H-6K bombers, two TU-154 and a Y-8 radar aircraft, have never violated Japan's airspace.

The exercise, according to the Chinese, would have taken place in the western Pacific to hone skills in long distance combat.

Although it was an exercise, Chinese training was suspected by the Japanese.

Tokyo again pointed out that these exercises only add to the tensions between the two Asian powers, already at loggerheads for a territorial dispute in the East China Sea.
