The "Fencer" shot down on 23 November may not have been able to receive the radio warnings of the Turkish Air Force. The hypothesis, not confirmed or denied, was put forward by the intelligence site "Janes" which analyzed the radio model installed on the Russian Su-24s.

We know that the Turkish authorities have stated that "the aircraft was notified 10 times within a five-minute period". However, the surviving crew member always claimed that both he and the commander of the aircraft did not receive any radio signals.

It is clear that if the problem were confirmed on the radio, the two different flight recordings would be explained. And they would both be correct.

The radio, model R-862, installed on the Su-24M, according to the study would require an optional module, not standard, to receive the emergency channel broadcasts in very high frequency (UHF - between 300 MHz to 3 GHz) and very frequency. high (VHF - between 30 and 300 MHz).

To date, this may be the only reason why Turkish audio recordings reveal the warnings, while Russian ones don't.
