Syria, Putin issues new directive for specnaz: eliminate the ISIS executioner

The directive was issued a few hours ago. Vladimir Putin has set a new high priority objective. I live possibly, but it's just a detail. The important thing is to arrive before the United States and Great Britain. Putin has ordered his specnaz to bring the executioner of the Islamic State, responsible for having beheaded several foreign hostages, the 27enne Mohammed Emwazi to Russia.

We know that specnaz are in Syria hunter killer missions and targeting leaders and to coordinate Russian raids on the ground. They act from the base of Hmeymim, in support of the 7th Guards Airborne Division.

The timing of the new directive is not accidental. After having signed the memorandum of understanding with the USA, Putin is now looking for a real "blow". If he really managed to bring Emwazi to Russia, Putin's popularity, at a time when despite the counteroffensives the situation in Syria is stalled, would skyrocket. And the Kremlin strategists know this. After working on the (internal) image of the former Lieutenant Colonel of the KGB who "alone" sided with the Islamic State to protect the West, the Russian who "made" the USA escape from the Region (Theodore Roosevelt was withdrawn from the Persian Gulf due to the delays accumulated in maintenance) and which "shocked" the world with its troops, now Moscow seeks international consecration by hunting down the number one enemy of London and Washington.

It is superfluous to note how much the number one of the Kremlin would gain in terms of image before the world. Unlike the Coalition, Putin has fighting troops in Syria and the alliance with Assad, the Iranians, Hezbollah and Shiites from Iraq and Afghanistan, could give him a considerable tactical advantage. Because the problem is this: the capture of Mohammed Emwazi serves more to the Russians (and their allies) than one can imagine. And they know this from the Pentagon: the capture of the executioner would be a devastating blow to American prestige.

The directive, according to internal sources close to the Kremlin, puts the executioner at the top of the list, followed by the leader of the Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. To complete this mission, Putin commissioned the 'Vympel' (special forces unit under the orders of the Russian secret services). The 'Vympel' specnazs, already operating in Chechnya, Caucasus and Ukraine, are specialized in espionage and information gathering: it has been used since the '80' also for 'targeting leader' missions.

The executioner of the Islamic State, responsible for having beheaded several foreign hostages responds to the name of Mohammed Emwazi, born in Kuwait, but raised in the west of London. Emwazi, 27 years grew up in a wealthy family. He graduated from the University of Westminster, with a thesis in computer programming. Mohammed Emwazi reached Syria in the 2012 for field indoctrination. A few months later he would become the executioner, the protagonist of those videos that have caused so much indignation in the West.

His first appearance dates back to August last year, when he beheaded American journalist James Foley. According to the computerized analysis carried out on the other videos (vocal timbre, movements, cadence, pulse, height, fingerprints, physiological mapping, skin color and indicative weight), Emwazi would then execute the American journalist Steven Sotloff, the British humanitarian operator David Haines, British taxi driver Alan Henning and US humanitarian worker Peter Kassig.

In his first videos, the man appeared dressed in a suit and with a black balaclava that covered him completely, but not his eyes and the upper part of his nose. Since the first video, the executioner has revealed some clues. His marked British accent, in the videos in which he taunted the Western powers before slaughtering the hostages, was the first piece of the mosaic. The hostages released by ISIS reported that there were four Englishmen guarding the Westerners abducted in Syria and they were called "The Beatles".

Emwazi was first arrested in 2009, Tanzania, where he would go on a safari after graduation with two friends (a German converted to Islam named Omar and another man, Abu Talib). In fact, the English authorities already suspected his affiliation with terrorist groups active in Somalia. Landed at the airport of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in May of 2009, they were arrested by the police and held overnight before being expelled. Emwazi then moved to Kuwait, his hometown, where he worked for a computer company. He returns to London at least twice before leaving for Syria.
