The strategic bombers that hit targets in Syria from 72 hours used a new cruise missile, the raduga Kh-101. Launched by Tu-160 Blackjack (photo), the new long-range system is produced in two versions: the 101 is the traditional variant, the 102 mounts a nuclear warhead.

Information on raduga they are very scarce, but could hit targets at 3100 miles away. But this is the Western estimate. According to the Russian media, the Raduga would have a capacity of 6000 miles with a circular error of less than thirty feet, which would make it an impressive precision system. The Raduga guidance system should be inertial / satellite.

Some photos would show a possible infrared guidance system. The standard warhead is 880 pounds, the nuclear warhead is estimated in 250 KT. Following the profile of the terrain, the missile stealth reaches a maximum Mach 0,77 speed.

The United States is developing the Long-Range Standoff, conceptually similar to the raduga Russian.
