The entire MiG-31 fleet was grounded after the accident occurred this afternoon, in a wooded area, 40 kilometers northwest of the city of Kansk. This is what the Russian Aerospace Forces Command communicates.

A MiG-31 belonging to the Central Military District, during a training mission, for reasons not yet identified has fallen into an uninhabited area. The interceptor every time was unarmed.

According to preliminary data collected by the Kremlin, it could have been a technical failure. The crew managed to eject themselves and was rescued by a Mi-8 rescue helicopter sent immediately to the area.

While waiting to understand the dynamics of the accident, the entire fleet (about 250 aircraft in service) was grounded.

A special commission has already been appointed to find out the causes of the accident.
